Onno is a professional chess program, more precisely a chess engine. That is a computer program that plays chess, i.e. computes the computer's moves. You can also use Onno to analyse chess games.
Onno uses UCI to communicate with a chess GUI.
Onno plays a positional style. Compared to other engines, it can handle quiet positions better then tactical positions.
Onno is being tested on Schwarzer Blitz.

Mai 29, 2010 An experimental native Linux version is available on the download page.
Mai 15, 2010 Onno 1-2-70 is out. This is the final (non-beta) MP update. For existing customers it is available on the download page.
In my tests, on 2 cores, Onno was 65 Elo above the single version. On 4 cores, Onno was 116 Elo above the single version. These first results need further verification.
There are also some minor changes to the single version, but there there is no measurable difference in playing strength. Development of Onno will continue with improvements of the playing strength.
